The 1st High Legh Robert Moffat Memorial Race took place on 24th February 2008. It was organised by the High Legh Community Association to raise funds for the benefit of the village community. Lymm Runners became joint event organisers in 2012 and the race now also helps fund grassroots running.
The race route is largely along the leafy lanes and quiet roads of High Legh.
A committed team of volunteer organisers, friendly marshals and supporters, continue to work to keep the race a friendly, well-run but non-corporate event. In 2010 the High Legh Robert Moffat Memorial Race was voted best small run in Britain in a Runner’s World editorial.
The course starts and ends at High Legh Primary School where the school building and grounds provide a fantastic race HQ. Aside from offering a warm (and dry!) welcome for runners’ registration, the school base means that the PTA can provide an amazing spread of refreshments for runners and supporters.
As an event we are working to become more environmentally friendly, we have a long way to go but each year we introduce new initiatives such as reduced use of plastic bottles and an opt out option for T-shirts.
We hope you agree we are one of the best value races around, with a medal and T-shirt included in your race entry fee of only £25, with a discounted price of £23 for affiliated runners.
You have the option of a technical T-shirt or we will make a donation to CAFT, Children's Adventure Farm Trust, a local charity, based close to the High Legh 10K route, on your behalf instead. Due to ordering constraints a T shirt will only be available to those who sign up before mid January 2027, so don't delay.
The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) is a registered charity that provides day visits and holidays, free of charge, for terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children from all over the North West.
CAFT offers a joyful and inclusive environment where children of all abilities can come together to have fun and be themselves.
